Most of the classic car guys I know use Woolies - they have a massive range of materials and trim and have been helpful to me when trying to source some out of run trims etc.

Had very similar symptoms on mine - almost felt like the accelerator didn't make any difference on last quarter of movement. Turned out to be the fuel pump - eventually noticed a drip of oily/fuel mix from the pump housing while I was busy trying to check most of the things mentioned above with...

Many thanks for all the advice and comments - some great suggestions and over a wide range of vehicles some of which I hadn't really considered at all, especially on the Discovery option. The Iveco 4x4 might just be a step too far though. Again, thanks for the input.

As a happy S3 owner, I have been toying with the idea of converting a Defender 110 to a camper/overland vehicle, probably largely for Southern and Eastern European trips. Much as I appreciate my diesel S3 88 for hacking around on the farm and local back roads I am realistic as to its long...

The
The design allows the carrier to swing in conjunction with the rear door - if you look at my first picture of the demounted door there is a piston type arrangement in the fixing that slides along as the door opens while still keeping it attached. There are some designs that actually have a...

Had chance to have a quick look and I obviously had to notch the bottom carrier bracket to fit around the lower door hinge - see the second photo. The top bracket has just enough clearance to miss the top antiluce catch but wouldn't allow it to actually be used. I simply remounted a new...

Can't remember to be honest. I'll try to get a picture for you of how it sits just now with the drop down tailgate and soft top fitted We are a bit busy with turkey sales from the farm just now so might not be today.
Cheers.........Ian

This is the positioning of the plate and piston as on my rear door. Measurements are:
From top edge of plate to edge of window glass above is 113mm
From Right Hand edge of plate to Right Hand edge of door is 205mm.
The smaller plate below was on the door when I got the vehicle, not sure what...

I have one (or very similar) on my S3 - my rear door had the standard fixed wheel carrier on it already and from what I remember some of those holes lined up with the holes in the new bracket and I then drilled the rest out. I have rear door off at the moment as I have a hood on with a drop...

Hi there - just completed the same change a few months back on a SWB S3 standard hardtop. I'm not sure what your definition of a SW is but if you mean a proper "County" style SW then I think you are choosing an expensive base for your conversion. As someone mentioned above, a decent original...

Happened to have Taylors Series 3 Specification guide (which I'm led to believe is a decent enough reference) on the desk while making a comment on another thread so looked up anything relevant:
By my (quite possibly, flawed) extrapolation from his tables and text and bearing in mind some of...

This got my interest as I remember when I was a kid, my dads factory had two silver LR fire tenders for emergency use on site before the main brigade got there as they had loads of flammable chemicals around.
Just had a quick check through the paint codes listed for all S3 paint ranges used...

Not sure if your roof is lined but double check on the condensation levels as well, especially in the winter - it's surprising how much can build up and then start dripping when you move off. I initially thought they were leaks but apparently not. (I eventually lined the hardtop all over with a...

As above, have had mine both in hard and soft top modes and pretty easy to do with a kit of parts for the hood frame from Exmoor. I had a tailgate lying around anyway and fortunately the spare wheel carrier I have that swings out with the rear door in hardtop mode also works with the tailgate...

Can you just expand a bit - eg. does it stall as you are engaging clutch or does it happen after the vehicle has actually moved off, does it rev smoothly right up through the rev range without the gears engaged or is there hesitation, is there any noticeable drag on brakes after handbrake...
