    IRD REMOVAL AND TURBO WORRIES

On my way to work (2.25hr bus journey) I was mulling over this issue. I changed back to the ‘old style’ filter just before the MOT in October(for the same reasons you have) so will be stripping the system down for a good cleaning. Always suspected the intercooler as a possible culprit for...

Hello Folks. Following my post regards IRD bearing replacement I have finally go the unit out 1. Without killing myself 2. Without damaging IRD. Have a replacement bearing kit with Timken items which I was quite pleased to get. Anyhoo last night whilst under the car looking up into the hole...

    Bleeding brakes

Yes handbrake adjusted as you say.. old school the ‘book’ method has never worked for me.. only locks the brakes even with brand new adjusters..

    Bleeding brakes

Having separated the ABS modulator from part of the system there will still be air in the ABS block I guess. When I rebuilt the rear of my TD4 I replaced both the rear brake lines in their entirety. I tried to inject fluid into the modulator block but with little success. I bled the system fully...

    IRD Bearing/Seal Replacement

It’s a week since I last posted about my ‘grumbling’ IRD. Anyhoo on Thursday after I woke up I managed to get under the car and change the IRD oil.. (a mixture of new and old oil from the previous attempt/really poor oil for new that ended up with me short of the new stuff and having to ‘back...

Freelander 1 Hahaha… Not very funny

Think I’ve seen a video you made when you went for a test drive.. :-) Kits of fleabay have a mixtures of options which I think are down to what they have in stock/are available etc.. so I guess you didn’t have to replace the pinion bearing in your case.. :-)

Freelander 1 Hahaha… Not very funny

I not one to grumble…. Because I don't have to because my IRD is maybe a serial ‘grumbled’… Decided I needed to check the oil as I removed the VCU a couple do three months ago… Anyhoo checked I had the right gear oil.. 75 W 90 GL-5 … hell yeah… but only 600 ml.. FACK! Another ‘anyhoo’ and I...

Freelander 1 Wheel bearings - where is the best place to buy the kits?

Hello Rob Couple of things. Others may chime in. When refitting your wheel bearing remember to ensure that the ABS emitter ‘tone ring’ is fitted in facing the inside of the hub. The tone ring is grey(ish) in colour(in my experience) but maybe a different colour. Also your abs Sensor protrudes...

Hello All, Merry Christmas etc.. Been in my garage making the best use of my time off work trying to fix the sunroof and finding things rotten and mechanisms obstinate. Anyhoo a while back I found a 'guide' (2017 article) regards replacing the glass and mechanisms..might even have found the...

    Freelander 1 Sunroof… what’s left of it

    Freelander 1 Sunroof… what’s left of it

As I have been twiddling my thumbs whilst waiting for some medical results etc(can’t drive/work til given the all clear) I decided to remove the sunroof.. The mechanisms are jammed but do lift the roof up.. but nothing else.. wondering if there is a ‘two stage’ opening procedure or just one...
