The motor had burned out. Whether this was original fit 10 years ago or had been running continuously because of an underlying fault. I don’t know. Time will tell

Thank you chaps...............and ladies............

I’ve not pulled it apart since it is an exchange item, so I’m sending it to the seller.

Swapped out the compressor today along with a relay and now all good.

Not done anything with the compressor other than tap the solenoid. Maybe the buzzing sound is the solenoid trying to turn a seized compressor. Don’t know.
I’ve ordered a replacement Hitachi compressor off eBay and will swap out the original one, and change the solenoid.
Was tempted to just swap...

I’m going to wait for the replacement relay I ordered to see if it makes a difference, otherwise I’m going to go for an Hitachi compressor since it would appear to be just plug and play.
Generally what is the average life of a suspension air compressor. Not certain how many my car has had in...

Thanks for the picture.......yes just like mine. I’ve seen the repair kits but with mine buzzing it sounds like a sticking solenoid. I’ve given it a loving tap with a hammer but no change.

Cheers Darren

My suspension air compressor has given up the ghost. With power on the compressor solenoid just buzzes for a few seconds, then stops. Removing the relay makes no difference.
I’ve ordered a relay as it’s a cheap cost item, and have Googled the compressor part number 6H42-3B484-HE. There seems to...

And ladies..........obviously

Looked at SP but seems more custom jobs and one offs. What did you take to Mel and what work did you have done

I have an L322 and it needs the air suspension sorting out plus service. I don’t have the facilities anymore now since moving house so I can’t really do any big jobs on my drive.......plus it’s on a slope.
Looking for a good independent garage who offers good quality at a fair price. I’m based...

Chaps, it’s been awhile now since my days with a Freelander. Now the custodian of my brothers Range Rover Vogue L322, so I’m bound to be on here for quite some time
Need to sort out an air suspension issue but loving the car......apart from that it’s all good
-
Yes, you are probably right. I have looked at the freelander faults poll, and yes you are right again, mine is one of the better ones. Thanks bud for your kind comments

I know where you're coming from mate. Shame it was not made by Toyota since its a good looking car. Like most freelander owners, I've been a victim of British Leyland bad design.........no wonder we don't have any British car manufacturers left :(
