All sounds like good advice and yes the wheel nuts are tight and no visible signs of anything being broken or adrift so will leave it for now until the weather gets less windy. Will check out the carb for now.

It's a 2.25 and fitted with a weber ICH Spring bushes were supposed to have been checked over as part of a substitute MOT by a local land rover place!
