    Bonnet Misalignment

I went to adjust the bonnet catch & do some sound proofing on my 1985 90 and discovered that a previous owner had fitted a TD5 bonnet. (It had honestly never occurred to me to check that the bonnet, of all things was genuine!) I’m still unsure if this is a problem, or if the slightly terrible...

Mud flaps, bonnet latch for '85 90

Holy thread resurrection Batman! So I mentioned in the OP I’d like to sort the bonnet latch. I’m finally starting to think about this. Went to have a look at the bonnet and… as far as I can tell it’s had a TD5 bonnet fitted at some point! I’m not TOO bothered by this, the vehicle is hardly...

Plastic inner wheel arches on ‘85 90?

Our pre-Defender 90 probably has the original front inner wheel arches… at least that would explain the state of them! I’m wondering if it’s worth trying to patch them up or better to just replace them. Does anyone know if the more recent plastic arches - LR053803 I think - would be a drop-in...

    Service schedule?

We've had our mid-80s, 200-TDI-re-engined, Ninety a bit over a year. She doesn't do huge miles, no more than a thousand or so a year. Spends most of her time in the garage on a trickle charger. Just wondering what people would recommend for a regular (let's say annual) home service schedule...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Took the kids up a little green lane. Discovered the windscreen washer didn’t work. Back home, discovered +ve lead to washer pump had broken off at the spade connector. Looks like it had been that way a while. Fixed lead with some re-crimping & needle nosed pliers. Thinking about buying some...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Went to replace the off side rear indicator glass. Discovered the indicators are the later all-in-one unit (yeah yeah, I should have checked, it’s been rebuilt at some point so maybe happened then). Also sheared off a rusty screw on the near side indicator while checking it was the same. So the...

Mud flaps, bonnet latch for '85 90

Smashed bottom of the OS rear indicator lens on the 90 at the weekend. Think it may have been a stone flicked up from back wheel. No great problem to replace, but it's put me in the market for some rear mud flaps. We've not had her long and she didn't come with any flaps - or rather she came...

    Chassis/underpinnings rust treatment

That Bonda primer sounds like the dog’s danglies. Guess that’s one decision made then

    Chassis/underpinnings rust treatment

Wow, no-one? I figured everyone would have an opinion on this topic :)

    Chassis/underpinnings rust treatment

We bought a mid-80s 90 recently, after hunting around for a while. Not perfect condition, but not bad. I think she’s had money spent in the past - chassis seems in good nick and had a 200TDI dropped in at some point. I’m not sure the last owners were kind to her though - lived outside, not sure...

    Rear seats, 1985 90.

That’s interesting, I hadn’t considered installing the Exmoor fold up seats rear-facing. Good idea. I wonder what the insurance implications would be. No immediate plans to do anything like it, but food for thought certainly.

    Rear seats, 1985 90.

I always thought a rear facing folding seat against the bulkhead would work best & safest. However I’m yet to find anything that does that. If anyone does find one, post it here! At some point I may put the high-back seats in my 90 but, you know, time and money. Also I kind of like the originality.

    How big is it?

    How big is it?

(As the actress said to the bishop...) I’ve recently acquired some new garage space. Not a whole lot, but enough to fit a new toy I’m still on the lookout for a Series or possibly early 90/110, mostly as a fun second/weekend car & the rest of the time it’ll be undercover. But because space is...

I'm sure these are stolen defender parts

You can report eBay listings that have contact info in them and eBay are pretty good about taking them down. They want their cut after all! I do it occasionally when window shopping and come across something blatantly dodgy. Doesn’t stop the shysters, but does make their job harder. I think...
