Freelander 1 Clutch binding k series

Ok, the dark ice kit arrived today and it’s fitted, heart stopping moment when I pushed the clutch and it stuck to the floor, but another go at bleeding did the trick. Only had time for a quick test drive and it worked a treat, gears smooth and a good biting point. So far very impressed.

Freelander 1 Clutch binding k series

Many thanks, I think it’s going to have to be the £175 option, hopefully it will cure it. I was hoping there might be an upgrade available that would help.

Freelander 1 Clutch binding k series

I would agree with pretty much everything you say. I have noticed that it becomes more of a problem in hot weather. My problems also started when the slave cylinder exploded and I bought a replacement, and it's been a downward spiral from there. It is an awful design, and I can't think what...

Freelander 1 Clutch binding k series

Hi folks, long time since I posted, but not to say I’ve not been keeping in touch with posts or having the beast up on axle stands most weekends. I’m at the end of my tether and seriously thinking my k series is at the end of its life. I’ve posted before on here about the clutch binding and...

    Rear brakes

Thanks both, I’ll take another look, might be time to replace them, they’ve been on since I’ve had the car.

    Freelander 1 Clutch Issues

After all my efforts It turned out to be the clutch pedal on mine, but good experience doing the clutch, I think later models don’t suffer from the pedal issue. My advice is to Move the ird though, it's not that difficult and makes getting the gearbox out and back in a lot easier, doesn’t need...

    Freelander 1 Clutch Issues

I did it without an engine lift, used a couple of ratchet straps on a plank of wood over the bonnet, to support the gearbox. The gearbox is heavy.

    Rear brakes

ok, so it’s Sunday which generally means the hippo is in some degree of repair on the drive. I’ve changed the handbrake cables, as it scraped through the last two mot’s. I’m not convinced it’s better. I did notice the nsr drum was harder to get off. I couldn’t move the adjuster back, it’s solid...

Sunroof jammed (the dreaded) 5 door f1

It was one of those jobs I wished I never started and it’s still not totally finished. Wasn’t too much rust on mine, not bad for a 52 plate

Sunroof jammed (the dreaded) 5 door f1

Thanks for all the tips. Spent a few hours on it, couldn’t see how to get the rails back together after getting out and taking apart, but after much persistence I eventually found I was putting it together wrong. Calibrating was a case of trial and error, mainly error, but got there in the end...

Sunroof jammed (the dreaded) 5 door f1

Thanks, that really helps, I’ll give that a go, all makes sense, I’ve got the head lining out anyway, I’m going to re cover it while it’s out as I did a partial bodge job on it last year as It had the Land Rover sag.
