All sorted now. I ended up only replacing about 10" as the rest of the pipe was in good condition, just the bit where i spun the nut into got damaged 🤣 I plan on getting the body off later in the year so i will do a full job then. Thanks all...

I’ve ordered the good type of pipe, one of those fancy flaring tools and a good bender as well as a few packs of fittings for fingers crossed, I can cobble something together. Thank you!

So as always, you try and fix you defender and break something else. Todays job was to replace the bushes in the in the front of the a frame and while undoing one of the bolts, i squashed the brake pipe with my spanner giving me a nice shower...

I had a starting issue last year which sounds similar to yours, my symptoms were either starter not spinning or spinning too slow unless i had a jump pack on but once it had started, it was find for a while while the engine had some heat in it. I...

its hard to see on the picture but theres a piece welded to the round bar that i've outlined in red. The pin in the fixed upright is holding it in the open position, pull it out and when closed, it fits in the other hole below it. 10 seconds to...

And its done! Very happy with the way it's turned out considering i made a quick sketch in 2 minutes the other night. Couldn't fit my big round spotlights in so i went for some small square ones which don't look too bad. Two lights stay up, two...

I've made a good start on it today, fit it up this afternoon to get the locations of the fixed uprights in position and i should finish it tomorrow hopefully. It pivots on 16mm bolts at the bottom of the uprights and locates in notches at the top...

That’s exactly what I’m looking for! I’d that a proper original one? Would you mind taking a couple of pictures of the hinges and locking mechanism. Also is there anything different you would like to see to improve on it or is it already...

Thanks Phil, i will check that out. IT's a bit of a touchy subject with some people and i've seen it kick off several times on the defender facebook pages so i try and dodge it if i can. I’ve already made a front bumper so nothing standard will...

As most of you have guessed, i use my defender for shooting. I have a hatch in the back to stand out of and go lamping or sitting and waiting for fox. Foxes that are shot need taking back to the firepit and deer to the chiller and i don't want...

I won’t be using it for hay, I’d rather not upset anyone or start a arguments so I won’t say what it’s for

Yeah something like that so it comes round the side of the wings a bit. I play to be using it at night so I will make my centre spotlights fixed so they are still up when it’s folded down. I will probably start it in the next couple of weeks so...

Brilliant thank you. Put the part number in google and it came up with an old catalogue showing the pictures. It doesn’t look as good as what I had imagined so hopefully I can do a better job!

I've heard that in years gone by, there use to be a folding bull bar marketed at farmers to carry a bail of hay. I fancy knocking one up and i've got some ideas in my head but i would like to find some pictures of what the originals looked like...
