is this a defender then yes the main relay maybe shot

not a difficult job 20 minutes to do max so 150 for labour is steep

try renewing remote batteries first press unlock 3 times to resync if that doesnt work try to get key reprogrammed .In the instrument panel is a red flashing light should see this flash slowly when a valid immobilisation code is received hope this helps

agree with others lift pump but I would also try a fuel filter may have picked up some dirt from the bottom of the tank
