Thank you everyone for your advice. I am sure mine is a 300 and so I will persevere to free off the diff lock. I would hate to still get stuck in the mud needlessly.:o

OMG. Just had another reply saying that I might not have diff lock option if I bought a SII Disco. Call me thick but I don't know what that means. Mine is a 300 tdi auto, 1996 Blue. Does that help??

OK spot the thicko! What do you mean by SII. 1996 300tdi?? Please help before I waste a lot of time for no reason at all?

Thank you Petr, you have put my mind at rest. Without this it would have defeated the reason for getting the disco in the first place. I will update as to wether I get it freed off.

just had the same happen to me. Too big a job for myself, so had a massive!!!! bill instead. Good luck

Hi Everyone. I am appealling to you in a panic. I have a disco 300tdi auto and I am getting togather with a friend at the weekend to free off my diff lock as I can't get it. I have just read a different thread elsewhere and someone said that some discos came without diff lock as an option...

Just reading your thread as I cannot select diff lock either. I presumed it was stuck and needed WD40'ing. Now I am worried, is it true I might have bought a disco with no diff lock????!!!!

Thanks everyone. I can now select Low quite easily, a bit of working it seems to have freed it off. Now to get diff lock. Well and trully jammed!!!

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have only just picked up a 96 discovery today and I think it might be broken. I have put the gearstick in neutral as the diagram says but I cant seem to move the little gearstick at all. Is the car broken or am I missing something very obvious. Any guidance...

I have just picked up my N reg discovery and I can't seem to move the Diff gearbox. I have put it into neutral and it still won't work. Is the car broken or am I missing something really obvious. Any advice greatfully received.:confused:
