K seal is the kiddy, radweld and barleaks are pretty crap.

Measure from fixed point on axle to the same on the chassis, compare readings for an idea where to start.

I drilled and helicoiled the studs on mine years ago, not a bad job just awkward access. Dewebbed mine and drilled all the holes bar two slightly oversize, plus used nuts with built in washers that would allow it to shuffle around a bit in use...

The two litre diesel had them holes and they are tell tale holes for the liner seals, not sure if the 2.25 are the same?

Loads of all of the above here but all parked up as projects in driveways. I got offered a D3 last week for 250 sovs needs a sill welded & the starter live rewired. Got new nobby tyres on it so he just wants the sale price of the tyres.

that’s exactly my thoughts unless it’s been welded but it’s just chasing the worm really. I don’t see any d2’s around here at all now, 2023 I saw two but I checked the reg plates last year as remembered them and they’ve been scrapped.. ironically...

Personally I think that in reality they are all overpriced. Expensive to own, run, fuel, tax, insurance and park now with emissions rated parking. Galv chassis would be getting on for £10k fitted so the sellers would want good money for it...

Surely all the d2 on original chassis must all be nearly fecked by now? Still see the odd one about, but rarely, d1 none existent and d3 getting thin on the ground around here.

Welcome to LZ. I would be wary of over gearing it as you could end up with a 4 speed car as fifth will be unusable on anything that resembles a hill. Considered an overdrive? On the other hand ear plugs are dirt cheap.

Although it has now reduced to about 25k i spent several years doing 30+k miles a year, when you are doing that sort of mileage lots of things become regular “service” items far more so than a weekend toy that never does any work. Latest example...
