good off roader ? 90, disco or sj

There are very few sound SJs or Discos out there now. The ones that are good the owners know that and consequently they price them accordingly. If it is just for off road use then it has to be an SJ but if you have to do much tarmac miles then the Disco is your best bet. Both are very...

    Entry Level Winch

Hi there, I used a Superwinch until some some scumbag thought they deserved it more than I did and helped themselves to it by un-bolting off the bumper and bolt croppers on the leads. The reason it was a Superwinch and Goldfish, with welded bolts and a bar over the top of it, the scumbags won't...

    Steering Guard Opinions

The Southdown axle guard will protect the rear steering bar. I bent my rear bar and was looking at ways to save it.

    Steering Guard Opinions

HI there, I will say it very slowly . The axle guard is bolted to the RADIUS ARM BOLTS. Therefore moves with the axle. The Southdown guard shown on the RR is a front steering bar guard. As the suspension in that piccie is at full extension, wheel off the ground it is not protecting the bars...

    Steering Guard Opinions

Hi there, it is bolted to the radius arm bolts, therefore moving with the axle. My Disco with 250,000 miles on the clock is until last week my only car. In 7 years it has been off roaded at least once a month, towed our heavy club trailer back home and taken me to work the next day. Twice it has...

    200tdi on a auto box?

Hi there, I have driven an early 200tdi auto and it was very good. My wife has a 1997 300tdi and that is a rocket. It tows heavy trailers very well. I do think that LR some how tweaked the 300tdi to make it more sprightly and it is a lot quicker than the 200tdi. Having said that the 200 that I...

Running a 200tdi without an Intercooler

Hi there, I have heard of a tdi engine being run without an intercooler without any real problems although I have not seen or heard it running. I would imagine. Series g/box and brakes and an on song tdi might be a bit much for it. Best of luck.

Hi there, the Southdown guard protects the bars in front and the vunerable rear one.

    Steering Guard Opinions

Hi there, yes it does reduce the ammount of ground clearance but only by a small amount. What made me think very hard about it was, maybe you have strengthend steering bars and maybe they don't bend. The fact is that some of that energy has to go somewhere, i.e. track rod ends !!!!!!!!! . There...

    Steering Guard Opinions

Hi there, came back from the LRO show at Billing yesterday. Had a look on the Southdown stand. I already have one of their fuel tank guards/drop plate for tow bar on my Disco 1 and know what a good piece of kit it is. What I did see was an axle guard that protected the rear bar that goes behind...

    Off roading at LRM show

Hi there, I have not done the off road course at Stoneliegh but if it is anything like at other venues there will be a hard and easy route. The Freelander 2 has all the technolgy to keep it going off road. It is only really hampered by the lack of ground clearance. If it is an auto then even...
