Had a similar problem with my Freelander 2 TD4 2012. Lots of clicking and not starting. Followed this thread and purchased a starter motor solenoid, took it to the local garage and bingo, problem solved. £15 for the kit, £45 for an hours labour to install (beyond my capabilities). Thanks...
