Radius arms are wider on the disco, measure between the brackets on both axles.

I hope it's OK re re-open this tread, because I have a similar question regarding axle identification and rather than start a new thread, I thought it better to post on here. I own a 1998 Defender 90 300Tdi station wagon. It has disc brakes...

Of course, Landrover temp gauges in the dash are hopeless at actually measuring temps! 😆

Aye - several ‘projects’ over the Years, at least latest one doesn’t feature a total loss lubrication system🤣

Well, after a few Years in the wilderness I’ve returned to LandRover ownership - this time it’s a 2010 Discovery 4 HSE, like I don’t have enough grief in my life! It has some, errrm, issues to address - AC is fubar, brakes are interesting, the...

Loafer61 replied to the thread P38A Plug leads.
I had Magnecor ‘blue’ on the V8 when I bought it. It also came with 5 sets of plugs, two brand new so I think a number of plugs chops had been done! Although no misfires at the time, a couple of plugs ends felt loose to me. I then had a drama...

I always fit NGK plugs and I've never had an issue. I'd recommend not to buy Champion plugs as their quality is terrible in my experience.

Hi there all. It has been a while and have finally started taking things apart. The weather , time and family have been stopping me. But sun is finally out and I have some time. I took the tappet covers off and removed the plugs. Turned it by...

+1, no MAP.... only 4 sensors: MAF, FT, ECT, TPS

Here we go again . Look if you couldnt sort the "small" problem on your D1 then how are you going to approach a D3 with all its tech? Buy a Jimmy and have done with it. J
  • Loafer61
Thanks Phil. The old one seemed fine, it was more the 8 contacts mounted into the cap that seemed scored and ‘secondhand’. I’ll keep an eye on it!
  • Loafer61
A new cap and rotor from SimonBBS sorted this issue, so all good there. The Disco is running nicely, but I think I’ll flush the rad (ie take it out) and refill with 50% coolant / distilled water. I’ll also take the under guard off to get at the...

The Milwaukee grease gun has a little button you push to bleed the air out nice and easy to use, it is especially useful as some of the trailers I have to grease up use three whole cartridges of grease.

I'm almost certain that here is no MAP sensor on this system. The ECU uses a full range throttle potentiometer to determine a load signal. You will need to check for flash codes. The 14CUX ECU was a primitave unit so if you have an engine light...

Hello, I received purchased a 1994 Discovery 1 with the 3.9 engine. I have quickly fallen for this vehicle and enjoy driving it. Recently my check engine light has come on. I checked the MAF sensor and now suspect the map sensor might be the...
  • Loafer61
Looking again this morning, is all of that mess only on one side of the engine? If it is, I would be putting money on a split manifold here, that is a LOT of oil and soot there so I don't think it's a recent failure, I expect it's been like it...

Just a quick note of caution, do not use high power coils on this ignition system, they don't like it and will fail. I have posted on this before. Make sure you check the wiring very carefully, old corroded wires break inside the insulation...

Does the simonbbc rotor arm have the metal strip moulded in or is it riveted? I do recall another website where someone (not me!) reckoned he spent around £600 trying to sort a misfire issue which was resolved by refitting the old rotor arm....

Loafer61 reacted to Ratae's post in the thread Starting and ignition woes with Like Like.
The problem with levering or pulling the rotor arm off on the electronic dizzys is that you can disengage the auto advance/retard mechanism which is under the plate you can see when you have the dizzy cap off. You must press down on the reluctor...

I've done a little bit of welding, but I'm not up to this. I think I might remove the interior bits myself, so I know it's done! The job is being farmed out by the MoT garage to 'their' welder bloke, so I'd imagine they'd put a bit on top of his...

A quick question on this (although I have a petrol LR), is it a drama to bypass the loom and give the fuel a continuous 12V feed? Switched so the pump is off when not running of course.
  • Loafer61
TBH I'd not worry about a Nano for a while. Why not try doing what you did to get the fuel pump going then try to crank it again to see if it fires up and runs. Even if you have to jury rig wires to it. But be aware that if the ECM doesn't get a...
