Replacing front prop shaft: A question

This is spot on. Anybody reading this and about to attempt the same job, do yourself a favour and take the whole prop shaft off the car first. You'll save yourself an awful lot of time and sanity.

Replacing front prop shaft: A question

Thanks guys. Consensus seems to be do it on the car which is what I started last night. I had the car up on a lift and gave it a good going over which is how I diagnosed the dodgy prop joint, so I'm not worried about missing damage. Unfortunately I don't have access to the lift anymore so I'm...

Replacing front prop shaft: A question

Hi guys. After a bit of fault finding on a serious amount of vibration at around 60mph, I've discovered the joint between the front prop shaft and IRD is knackered. I have a new prop shaft coming today but my question is whether I can remove and replace just the front section and leave...

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

All sorted. After taking it to be plugged in and the computer showing 8 different faults, I decided the replacement ECU must be faulty and ordered a new one. Cut the carpet tonight to fit and whilst fiddling about wondering how the hell I was going to get the old(ish) one out without removing...

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

Great, thanks. I know the score with the airbags having had them out recently to do the heater matrix. I'll have a look at that over the weekend.

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

Yeah that would make sense. The radio buttons don't work as someone has fitted an after market radio at some point. I'll try the horn tonight and see if that's working.

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

Do you know if there's a sign that this has failed? Apart from the airbag light being on obviously :) I haven't tried the horn but all the other steering wheel mounted switches - wipers, lights etc work as they should. Would that be the case if the rotary couple had died as I thought the wiring...

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

I haven't had it plugged in becuase from what I've read online only the proper Land Rover computer will read airbag faults and I'm trying not to spend a furtune on it if I can help it. The car is a 2001 on a Y plate.

Freelander 1 SRS light on and running out of ideas

I'm having fun and games with the little Landy at the moment. After fiddling about with the connectors under the front seats in an attempt to get the SRS light off and failing, my next step was to replace the ECU. While buried in the passenger footwell trying to find it, I discovered that the...

Freelander 1 Removing plugs from cabin fuse box - Help!

Thanks for the reply. I didn't have a locking arm on mine ('01 Y reg) I managed to get them out by pushing the tab down with a small screwdriver and gently pulling one side and then the other forwards with a pair of pliers. All sorted and back together now :)

Freelander 1 Removing plugs from cabin fuse box - Help!

Hi guys. First time posting here so hopefully this is in the right place. Anyway, having noticed coolant in the passenger footwell and diagnosed a leaky heater matrix I've taken the dash to bots to access and replace. So far everything has gone fairly well untill the final step. Removing the...
