51 plate with 113 on the clock. Its common fault on the bmw engines, same in the rover 75. If its leaking, get it changed is my advise.

So I apologize if there is an obvious solution to this in the forums somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I have a TD4 with a sloppy gear linkage and have dredged the internet for reasonably priced fix. However I am only able to find the pg1 kit. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...

Followup...the water pump has now been replaced after the bearings in it went causing a distinct rattle! Anyway, all is good now.

Yes I have done, the jack up and weight test, it doesn't get hot after a drive, i figured that and the fact now the bearings are done and it sounds great, it must be ok...for now anyway :)

Thanks I will have a look. The worrying VCU seems perfectly fine, no heat build up and it does work as it is supposed to i believe so that's a bit of a worry out of the way for now. I do have a plenty full list, however like you say, mostly minor things like a stiff rear door etc, wouldn't have...

I did, but love pretty much all land rovers. The freelander seems an obvious option for me because it is so versatile as a 4x4, or at least it seems it (being a new owner I don't actually know yet).

Yes, no turn clunking, it doesn't get hot no matter what I use it for, and all seems good with it. TBH the whole pro looks in really good condition, like its a refurb or something, but obviously the bearings said otherwise. They are not so bad to work on i feel, very roomy.....well apart form...

Sorry no pics, but being a new hipppo 1 owner, today I removed the prop and replaced both bearings. On the road..no ramps. Did use a very handy curb outside my house though :)
