    Big wheels and lowered

just no. I am after the retro overfinch look, but better and a good handling range rover with the proper classic styling that is good for towing my trial vehicle to events. the LSE is too tidy to thrash off road thats why i also have a series.

    Big wheels and lowered

I fitted 18" hurricane alloys with adaptors to my classic lse with 255 55 18 tyres. there is still enough rubber to make it look right but the wheels look more suited to the vehicle (mabe because its an lse). it looks very good in access mode (yes EAS still fitted and working). I also have a...

    Uprated shocks?

pro comps are cheap and work ok, but make sure you get 9000 not 3000 as they are stiffer which is required for the parabolics. i fitted britpart parabolics to mine and they are sagging dramatically after 3 years!! not impressed. the rear required +2" dampers but the front was fine with standard...

    Discovery TD5 in a Defender

the td5 uses an r380 box, so its worth checking the disco bell housing is the same length as a 90 one otherwise this may push the engine too far forward.

Newbie advice please ex mod 88"

seats out of a 90 or 110 are a direct replacement for originals and provide a small amount more comfort than series items. they will also give more room. if you can cope with heavier steering, a smaller after market steering wheel will give more clearance.

    Buying a landrover

it seems strange to use the range rover chassis, its not even benefiting from tax exemption which would be the only logical reason for the swap.

    Distributor woes..

its easy to get them 180degrees out which would spark but on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke.

Back end slides in wet weather

the other thing to check is springs. if the rear springs (if coil) are stiffer than standard and the front are standard, it will tend to slide more easily.

    Disco 4 Suspension/shocks

the air suspension system can be programmed for ride height and stiffness. not sure how much it costs but they shouldn't have to replace any dampers. try alive tuning or twisted performance.

    WaxOyl

disco 2 chassis legs either side of the fuel tank can split along the seam where they over-lap. waxoyl may be an excuse to cover this up!. have a good poke around before this is done. personally, i prefer hammerite rather than waxoyl as it looks neater and is easier to remove if work needs to be...

    How fast is you Landy?

... if I can get 50mph before braking for the roundabout at The Air Balloon, then I know she's running sweet :5bhurray: my series tdi can manage 65 all the way up the hill!!! tis great overtaking normal cars in a muddy landy with no roof and the tyres singing!!

What's the most resilient Landy engine? (Sorry didn't know where else to put this)

i would say a 200tdi, they always seem to start. v8's sometimes don't want to be woken up on a cold morning but every time i jump into my series tdi, it starts, even when i forget the glowplugs.

    How fast is you Landy?

my SERIES 3 200tdi has had about 90, my mate in a 300tdi disco couldn't keep up doing 85! the 900-16 petlas tyres were starting to complain!!! shame about the drum brakes though :p

Suspension Knocking - Worn bushes ?

get underneath with a pry bar and check for play. anti roll bar drop links are more likely.

    Knocking while driving v8 disco 3.9 1996

does it happen when you pull away? the gearbox can sometimes wear on the shaft that links the gearbox to the transferbox. if its constant, it may be the front diff or propshaft. chock the wheels, put it in neutral and give both propshafts a good shake at both ends.
