Wet Defender TD5 and non-stop horn

Thanks a lot - finally towing it to a nearby garage today - electronics now seem to work again btw after some good drying and some contact spray. Battery recharging, albeit possibly ruined..... Will keep you posted on "Project P**s Poor Parking Progress".

Wet Defender TD5 and non-stop horn

Yes, I am most definitely in denial - but also take comfort from your words and those of others. Thanks for the inputs, I guess I will get a mate to tow me to a nearby garage of choice for them to perform some checks. I HAD tried to start it yesterday, but luckily, thanks to the immobiliser (?)...

Wet Defender TD5 and non-stop horn

I don't think it is a total loss really? Will see, engine did not run whilst in water, so I may be lucky..... + I doubt the insurance would pay out, due to 'negligence' on my part, by parking where i did park, which was a stupid frankly.....

Wet Defender TD5 and non-stop horn

Thanks all - the water should not really be salty as quite far upstream at Richmond. The very highest point was basically on the photo, but the car was also at an angle, so may not be quite as bad in terms of engine getting totally wet. Here's the blow of a photo taken from distance, so not very...

Wet Defender TD5 and non-stop horn

Hi My TD5 got 'slightly' wet yesterday when parked up at the tidal Thames. When I came back the car was in the water up to the edge of the bonnet and the horn was sounding non-stop. Managed to open doors and get it towed home by a friend. Now every time I connect the battery, the horn blares...

Defender Repairs in SW London (Kingston / Richmond area)?

Thanks a lot, that is helpful - though given the state of severely rusted screws for the tunnel cover, I may have to bite the bullet and get someone professional sort things out.... :-( Cheers Kurt

Defender Repairs in SW London (Kingston / Richmond area)?

Watch the above from about 3:00 mins onwards and you will see the lever moving on the left and the screw in the middle, which the lever touches. I have tried to explain making a picture - see attached. Sorry, horrible quality video, I was filming from the driver seat, i.e. from above with a...

Defender Repairs in SW London (Kingston / Richmond area)?

Thanks, I was exaggerating with the soggy carpets, I have rubber mats and all is dry (at least at the moment). The lever moves just fine, it is just still that screw on the transfer box which may still be in the way.....

Defender Repairs in SW London (Kingston / Richmond area)?

So I managed to remove the soggy carpets and other bits and pieces - the diff lock linkage seems to be working just fine, except that when i push the lever to engage the diff lock, it seems to catch on a screw on the transfer box, which MIGHT prevent it from moving over fully. The screw where it...
