Here's one I cant seem to find the answer to.Through all the revisions and different owners of LandRover did the HG issue ever get sorted out in production on the 1.8K and if so from what year ? It appears that only the pre face lift cars have problems i.e 2004, from what I can read ont tinterweb ?

Has anyone done this successfully with an aftermarket gear knob and if so which ( pics would be helpful). I need to change it as the current one is really shiney and slippery ! Quite odd given it inly has 24k miles on the clock !

Sounds great ! Although with my rambling/fell walking hat on...I couldnt possibly comment on that !! Its set to be another great year for the TT (weather permitting!)

To be accurate,and in the spirit of giving a full response to the original question... Hasnt the Head Gasket problem in the petrol 1.8 also been fixed for face lift 2004> FL1's ?Therefore rendering the statement, "all petrols are crap" another rubbish bit of advice ?:rolleyes:

Thanks guys. The gator seems does seem to be held at the top by something. Is this part of the gear knob or something which can be transferred to a new one ?

Hello all I'm new here. Can anyone advise how to remove the gear knob and gaitor from an 04 Freelander (manual) please. Can anyone also recommend a tasteful alternative( pull reverse) to the current shiney worn out thing I currently have or even a source of a new LR one. P.s Sorry...
