Fitted a downpipe from Empire, looks quite well made, shame it doesnt fit a bit...
You could try one of the patina oils that act like a clear coat, something like owatrol oil etc. this will keep them looking original, but stop them rusting. It is used a lot on old tractors etc to preserve the work worn look but prevent it...
A few more tasks done at the weekend...removing rear springs, draining the oil and stripping the brake calipers for a good clean and inspect.

Top end of the v8 looked a bit rough so I've had that all out and rebuilt that, got a different gearbox has the previous wouldn't marry up so now I'm looking at getting the thing running.

Rear springs both done now and shocks replaced! I just need to find a new nut for one sides top mounting as I stripped one.
Also just wondering what springs it looks like I removed? They look a little thicker so heavy duty? The new ones I've...
Attempted to take the down pipe of my TD5, bloody hell the nuts were tight! Map gas didn't help much so I thought better of it and gave up.
Cut the hedge instead.
Few photos of hours of blood, sweat and beers and photos of the final result. Who said drinking alcohol was bad for you… oh bugger just realized it should have been painted red 😝

Refitted one of the spats on the rear. I’m not a fan of the original clips with the wee plastic push in pin, so I got some M6 Stainless spire clips and used those. I’ve definitely got a much more solid fixing, but I’m thinking of taking it back...

After roughly 1k miles of testing, she’ll be hibernating until I return.
On the plus side, she’s only got 18 months until she’s Tax & MOT exempt. ☺️
That's them. Thanks for your help. It has never had steps on while I've owned it so they must have been cut down a long while back. I can;t recall removing the left over bits but they can head for the scrap.
Cheers
Sorry — didn’t think to update you.

My theory is that the fluid expanded in...
I found a replacement bumper made a noticeable improvement. The old bumper on mine was a painted black one with rust showing through. I fitted a galvanised one, used but I good condition. I see yours is galvanised but looks tired. It might be...
