spent an afternoon splitting the chassis from the body,
it wasn't too hard to be honest I had to cut a few bolts here and there,
generally went quite well but the more I saw of it made me think I had done the right thing as it was
looking pretty scabby!

so with the engine running smoothly and after a few weeks of running I decided to take the plunge
and sort out the corrosion on the chassis

Hello everyone
can anyone tell me where I can get the white plastic inserts that fit into the chassis
for the pipe clips to locate into?

so it was out with the old asthmatic 2.5 td and in with the 300tdi disco engine

but before I tackled anything else I had a 300 tdi engine sat in my workshop and it was getting in the way !
there was only one place for it to go......

so that was one job out of the way, but I realised there was a lot more to do if I wanted to keep the landie for myself
I just knew I wouldn't be happy with a scruffy chassis and rough looking body underneath

I put it all back together and riveted on the new panels ready for painting at some stage,

I made a new crossmember assembly and bolted it in,
it all looks a bit scabby underneath which got me thinking a more drastic job could be on the cards.....

the rear crossmember assembly was also shot so I removed that too

first job was sort out the rusty bits so I drilled out the rivets and spot welds and stripped the triangular panels back to see the extent of the rust
which turned out to be pretty bad!
I cut away the rust and replaced it all with new
