It could be as straightforward 😬 as solving a simultaneous equation with N unknowns. How many serial numbers and codes do you have @andyfreelandy? I am waiting to sign off to get my house/workshop/computing facilities back but I would give your...
Before you condemn the top mount or bearing, whip the coolant bottle off and check the top nut is tight. Allen key in centre to hold. I had one that needed a new lock nut and unscrewed on its own !!
ABS sensor removed cleaned lightly lubed and refitted - pushed onto the reluctor ring and that backed off just a 'tad'.
3 amigos GONE. :)
HDC works as it should...
Very happy
Removed both rear trailing arms & pressed out the knackered bushes today. That bit wasn't too bad. Replacement bushes are a fraction of a mm larger. Tried chamfering one end, but my press keeps pushing them to one side.
Now got them...
Having fitted a new clutch, new slave and attached this to a known working master cylinder I was not at all surprised to find the clutch bite was in the carpet. It has happened before but never really found not why it happens and how to fix it...
completed 1640 km in 2 days. I am going to double check tomorrow but I have close to 18km/l (51 mpg)!!! I wondered if the silicon oil would help reduce engine friction but that number if it checks out tomorrow night will be incredible.
EDIT...
My 1st gear switch connector hadn’t been fully pushed home, probably because of a small piece of grit. Cleaned it all and like you, voila! HDC works perfectly.
Fixed the HDC (thanks for your recent pic' postings @andyfreelandy - super helpful) and am now ready for my first big trip this year. Dodgy connector!! This will fix other wet weather problems seen via pscan and showing up in the display. I...
Clutch appears to have sorted itself. I think if the master cylinder is open, pedal down, the air finds its way up. See how it goes. Then other technique I have used in the past is to remove the master cylinder, take the push rod off and compress...
@andyfreelandy thanks for the pics! Question please; which gearbox switch is that highlighted in my grab of your picture ? First or reverse? Thanks in advance.
Here you go - engine bay shots, the bits that you can't easily see with the engine in place. Photos taken standing inside the engine bay with some key components listed to allow you to work out where you are looking ! TD4 Manual Facelift vehicle...
I have 15, 16, 17 and 18 inch wheels on 4 different Freelanders.
The 18 inch with 50 series tyres is best on the motorway but not good on pot holes.
My 17 inch wheels with 225/65 Geolanders is by far the best ride and they last forever !! Well...
OK, I found the following installation reference document HERE. Very disappointed by the supplier that they do not have an English equivalent guide (only available in German 🤬).
Just in case someone else needs the document in the future, I have...
All of my Freelanders had original exhausts so they must have been well made.
And yes as Nodge says the power steering hose is always flattened like that. It had me concerned too the first time I saw it.
The flat hose is the PS return line, and yes they are flat. I believe the flat hose is some form of crude noise reduction system, there the hose can absorb noise from the pump or rack. Don't worry about it, unless it starts leaking.
Replaced the rear n/s door window regulator in my old F1 (now cherished by my daughter).
Easy job - old out and new in, all bolted back up again. Of course, being the smart man that I am, I thought to check it all worked properly before putting...
