yeah it came from a local car dealer with 6 months warranty, of course all was good for 6 months! Had it 2 years now

I've had a few people say that gasket can go again and again...?

So I think we all agree it's the head gasket most likely, with maybe more engine damage not known. I'm thinking if so it might be time to cut my losses? (thanks everyone by the way - you're awesome)

My garage, who have a had a fair few quid out of me this year, ran it and said they had pressure test for 2 days with no problems. I think I have a rubbish garage, who don't want the hass of a landy head gasket! ;) It was in for prop shaft just before xmas and they didn't look at it despite me...

Thanks for your reply Marmaduke...yep there's yellow goo halfway up the dipstick and big blobs under the oil cap, wondered if it's *just* coolant from short journeys as you say..
