My '96 300tdi Disco threw its belts out of the pram on the way to work this morning. Whilst repairing and wondering "Why?" I noticed that the tensioner pulley mechanism had lots of play in it. I thought I'd just tighten the nut up but it seemed to be turning the whole stud - removal followed...

Mine passes mot emissions test with EGR valve removed, so no problems.

Changed my alternator last week and it started squeeling after. Cleaned all belts as I thought it couldd be crap in the grooves but no joy, oiled all bearings and moving bits, still no joy. Did the penny trick - BINGO!

I have had to carry out some rust repairs on the rear inner arch panel (inside the back door). I now need to respray them to hide the colour of Kurust! How do I find out which colour Red is the right one to use! Is there a colour code label somewhere on the vehicle?
It's a 97R Disco 1 300...

Thanks to this thread I managed to get my rear subs working again after changing the head unit - I got an RCA lead, cut the wires and connected both the sleeves into 1 crimped connector and the cores into another. These I simply plugged into the original connector to avoid cutting any LR wires...

Just done these adjustments to my 97 300TDi, unfortunately being pressed for time I chose the "Adjust the lot at once and hope for the best" route. I drove it round the block with no major smoke problems so I will see how it goes for a few days and try it properly when I get time.

Hi Fiolks, I have been using the forum for information for a little while now and so far it has helped me fix my rear speakers with an aftermarket head unit, tune it a little with the smoke screw adjustment and to de-EGR it.
