    Injector pump issues

It's a manual pull to stop. I just took the pump off the engine and removed the drive spindle to keep safe, but obviously I turned the engine whilst it was off to do the work.

    Injector pump issues

Thanks dippypud, yes I've bled the low pressure side and filter, oodles of air free fuel comes out of the bleed point on the block, but I was once reliably told that if there was fuel at that point the other bleed screw on the square casing bit didn't matter. I haven't however tried knocking it...

    Injector pump issues

Hi Guys, I'm still trying to get my series 3 2 1/4 diesel up and running but can't get any fuel to the injectors, I have plenty of nice air free fuel at the bleed point on the block but can't even get a dribble out of the injector ports before my battery goes dead after a good few minutes...

Series 3 Ignition switch, can steering lock be ignored?

To be honest with you, after taking mine off I don't see how the switch has any bearing on whether the steering lock works, as it is housed in the main barrel part and the switch slots in the back but doesn't seem to have anything to do with the lock as this operates fine with it removed, so I'm...

Series 3 Ignition switch, can steering lock be ignored?

Hey up, I'm back again. I was just wondering if anybody knows if the ignition switch for a diesel series 3 with a steering lock can in any way be replaced with the much cheaper one that is for one without a steering lock as mine seems to have gone pete tong and there's about £40 difference...

Series 3 Still not fuelling (diesel)

Hi all, I've posted about this issue before, but it's been a while, so as I still have about the same amount of fuel getting through to my injectors as I'm likely to have both hair left on my head and money in the bank at the end of this project, I thought I'd put another shout for help out. So...

Won't prime! Am I being daft?

Just thinking, is there any way to tell if the pump is actually turning when you turn the engine over, I've checked that the spigot inside the engine turns but by my measurements the spindle is only engaged in the pump by a few mm, could this mean no drive to pump?

Won't prime! Am I being daft?

Thanks Wammers, seems I was being daft, maybe when my battery is fully charged I might get somewhere, still have to get over the sheered vent screw issue, not convinced it will be easy to find a replacement.

Won't prime! Am I being daft?

Right, here I go again. My 1978 series 3 diesel with CAV fuel pump won't prime. Starting at the beginning I have had the engine out and done a partial rebuild (only really piston rings and big end bearings and overhaul of head) for this I took the fuel pump off, now it's back in and a few weeks...

Refurbished (galv) bulkhead fitting issues, opinions please.

Thanks for all your replies guys, I haven't got round to tackling any more of it yet, but I'm thinking that I'll probably crack on with it, I'm not taking it back out to send it away to them now, fingers crossed with a bit of tapping but hopefully no more grinding I'll get it all sorted. I might...

Refurbished (galv) bulkhead fitting issues, opinions please.

I got mine from a place in Yorks, I wouldn't like to name them at the moment as I don't want to affect the outcome if I do complain, hope you understand

Refurbished (galv) bulkhead fitting issues, opinions please.

Thanks, unfortunately my bulkhead was in such a bad condition that they wouldn't entertain repairing it so had to purchase a refurbed one that they had sourced themselves. Hence the extra cost I guess, I looked on here but as they couldn't supply a bulkhead for refurb it wasn't an option

Refurbished (galv) bulkhead fitting issues, opinions please.

Hi all, I'm in the process of refitting a refurbished galv bulkhead to my series 3, I started today and found that basically not much fits. I expected a little bit of warping due to the galv process but the main bulkhead bottom bolt holes were a good inch out, so had to carefully stretch it...

    little end bushes/bearings

Thanks Mark and Mrchurchill, I've just spoken to an 'old school' engineer friend before reading your post and he confirmed the need for reaming too, maybe I should have looked into this before I embarked on the job. Ah well, you live and learn.

    little end bushes/bearings

Thanks, I have managed to ease the bush in using a blow torch to heat the con rod and a bigger vice at work but now it appears that the aperture in the bush is too small for the gudgeon pin, maybe your method above will work with that, putting con rod in the oven and pin in freezer?
