Thanks Went at it this morning and released the top door by drilling through the trim and opening the catch with a screwdriver. Got the cable repaired by using a large electrical strip connecter and 3 tie-wraps. Thanks for the info, you were spot on.

I can hear and feel the solenoid clicking inside the lower tailgate when I try to open the upper door, but the lock wont open. No inside option to open it without some demolition work I think !! Any suggestions ???? Cheers, John.:)
