I have a 300tdi disco engine in my defender. The air filter housing (black can with screw cap end) is the type bolted onto the engine with the two head bolts and two retaining metal straps. I've been given an air filter here with a white plastic cup thingy on the end of it with fins - but...

I have been hearing alot about Defender thefts and ringing, especially in the North of England. I'm in N Ireland where this is not an extensive problem... YET. We have a superb police car crime team which the public saved from closure by the chief constable. It's also a relatively small place...

Agreed - fitting about 200 - 250 quid. Consider a heavy duty clutch kit which will be tougher and last longer.

Also check this thread out. Is the vibration in a band range of 20mph eg 50 -70 or 45 - 65? Your tyres might have lost weights at the front or rear. Have a look and see if any have fallen off - like mine have! Or were your tyres rotated recently? Any of them looking out of shape or...

Hi James
The wheels have been rotated since the chassis swap which can happen I guess. One has lost three weights on the rear driver side and one has lost one weight on the front passenger side. I will run my prop tests tomorrow to narrow this out - got a couple of nice prop spacers to try...

Agreed = I have had issues too mate and if you like I'll let you know as I work through them. As James says, start with the rear prop off and diff lock on and go for a drive in the same speed range. Make sure you bolt on the handbrake drum with the four prop nuts and spacers if required - or...

Hi Tottot and James Martin
Just had a new galvo chassis professionally fitted and picked her up yesterday. All the mounts are new. Gearbox new recon, t box new recon. 300tdi phased prop front - looks to be 30 degrees. Double carden rear. New OEM springs all round.
My old vibration...

Where could I get my handbrake drum balanced, or for what it's worth - just buy a new one?
I took off my rear prop today and rebolted the drum back on. Stuck the car in gear and felt for vibrations, which I had problems with previously.
The vibration off this set-up was heavy and from the...

I agree with Jai - they are a great wee bus at a realistic price. What you need to ask yourself is - what are the professionals buying? Well, Land Rovers are a military staple in many countries BUT Santana are winning prestige military contracts all over, based on variations of that original...

Was just going to say that too Mr Martin. Danny, there are different bell housings available for land rover gearboxes which will dictate the positioning of your engine on the chassis relative to the gearbox. There are a number of chassis' for the Defender eg Turbo Diesel model, 200tdi model...

Hey Jai - are you getting a sort of rumbling/whirring noise re the pinion? I think the tighter the set-up, the more the stress on the t-box. My wee 90 goes in on the 14th for the chassis. I'll get EVERYTHING done to her while she's there - I need a stress free 2011 ! Will probably end up...

Oh, Buster, I was glad to see your clan rode with Montrose. Glory days.

They are right about castor correction - it increases the angles on the prop ends and makes it worse - I used castor correction bushes and they made my problem alot worse so I took them off. Buster is on the money - tried and tested is best.
Can I ask, is your 110 the original TD model - ie...
