I used Island 4x4 in the end and all is now well.
Still haven't heard anything from Defender Bits though!!!
Do you ever feel like driving your Defender into a ditch and walking away?:violent:
However after it passed the MOT, the landy is back on the road.:D

Hi guys, sorry to drag this one up again, but having just ordered stuff from Defender Bits I am worried as the parts haven't arrived and I can't get any reponse from email or phone. Is this supplier still in business or have I just wasted my money?

Cheers New2Landies, I reckon that might be it. If the washers compress at all during installation then the fact I didn't replace them could well cause a problem.
Parts ordered, crying like a little girl on hold, hoping that all is well after fitting.

As far as I understand it a thicker head gasket will just lower the compression a little and shouldn't really be a problem. Of course if you have the head skimmed this will increase the compression by a little so a thicker gasket would be good.

Hi I hope someone can help, I have just finished rebuilding the engine on my 94, 110 Defender 200 tdi. it's finally running and I'm really happy :).
Only problem is it was so long ago that I took it apart (had a slipped disk last year so the project really dragged :mad:) that I have no idea how...

Hi peeps I'm chris from South East London, got a Defender 110 200tdi. Really love it but had some problems recently and had to rebuild the engine. Looking forward to a summer of landy driving. Cheers
