what oil/grease goes on in the back prop shaft gaiter

hello, I don't know the answer but just to make things clearer...... the front end of the rear prop would be going into the VCU, the front end of the front prop would go into the IRD. So, is it the VCU end? midway under the car where the two props join into the VCU? IT

    Egr Blanking Mod

hello guys, Tried fitting my EGR bypass today but the arm that blanks off the exhaust gases is too long by about 3 or 4mm, just can't get it to fit as there isn't any "give" in the pipe that it clamps to (if you know what I mean). Anyone come across this before? cheers IT

blimey, you've been busy there. Hope I've done the right thing getting an OEM pump, Rimmers had 3, a really cheap aftermarket, an OEM and an original...... went for the OEM. Not looking forward to it too much, some people have a nightmare doing it, others get it done in no time, we shall...

yeah, checked hoses while I was looking at the erg, I have one dodgy vac pipe that looks to have melted onto one of the coolant pipes, seen that in some other threads too, seems to be fairly common. Got some new stuff coming to replace that. I've got a new fuel pump and filter on the way too...

funnily enough, I saw that the original EGR was still on the car, so I ordered a bypass and went to fit it last weekend, took the original off and found that someone had done a DIY job on it so I've put the original back on. The crankcase breather has been changed too for the BMW part. IT

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

thanks guys, I think my fuel pump is living on borrowed time anyway, so when i get a replacement for that and a new filter, i'll run something through the engine for a week before changing those. IT

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

fair point, i didn't explain myself very well. The purpose of this stuff (as i understand it) is to clear deposits etc from the injectors and so on, so where do these deposits go, or are they just dissolved into the fuel and no harm done? (as you can tell, i'm new to all this malarkey).

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

hmmm, can't help wondering if this is a bad idea now. If it can clear out that much crud from the tank, at least the filter can catch that but what about all the crud it clears from the system AFTER the filter, what happens to that? Is there a danger that it'll do more harm than good? IT
