Looks like a Santana to me.

Series 3 How many amps to jump start 2.25l series 2A diesel in series 3?

With a diesel? Good Luck with that one!

Series 3 Diesel vacuum pump question

Thanks! That's one part of the problem identified! Now just the pump mounting bracket. Forgot about the optional parts book. Must look for that on the early 110's, which had this fitted.

Series 3 Diesel vacuum pump question

Many Thanks - very helpful. My pump has arrived and is of the same type. I now need to source the double pulley and the mounting bracket. I've never seen the part # for the latter or seen it advertised.

Series 3 Diesel vacuum pump question

Could you take some pictures to show how the pump in the first post is mounted? I'm trying to add one to my 2.25d and would be interested in the mounting arrangement. Many Thanks, PM

    draining and refilling coolant

Here's a write up of how I do it. Basically a long winded description of the above from Col. Follow this link here for the write-up. This is for the 2.25d, but is the same for the petrol version. Please note that I have an original rad that does have a drain pug and that the drain plug does...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

Must be something about the M4 - had a similar experience in the middle of the night mid-winter back in the early 90's somewhere between Swindon and Membury services when the radiator let go on the 110. Spent 30 mins sitting over the barrier then decided that it was probably safer sitting in the...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

Agreed, the FIP just wasn't designed for it. The only time I've seen it done successfully with the DPA was where a dual tank system had been fitted, one with veg oil or biodiesel, one with regular diesel. Engine was started on regular diesel, switched over to veg oil in transit and then switched...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

That spring start sure looks interesting! Re bio diesel / blended diesel / cooking oil, yes it can be done. But it needs to be done properly to be reliable. The Fuel injector pump can easily get gummed up without proper operation (flushing with pure diesel). Those pumps fitted to LR series were...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

Its not possible to hand start the LR 2.25d. Well, I can't anyhow. That was why I was musing that having decompression valves would be a bonus, so that you could crank it up without the compression, to build up rotational momentum, then throw the decomp valves and hope it fires. Like the old way...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

My sentiments exactly! I always thought it would be useful if the diesel version of the engine could be fitted with decompression valves for hand starting! But I don’t know if the fly wheel has enough mass to make it practical. Could be fun though. It’s always good fun to start the vehicle on...

Series 3 Where can I find instruction for building a crank?

Still might be cheaper than cost of materials, time and frustration. I recall that you are in QC? Although currently based in MD, USA, I'm originally from MTL, now also based in the Laurentians, and so could always bring one with me next time I'm up and drop if off. Just a thought. Mine's a...

Since you are in North America, try Rovah Farm. (rovahfarm.com, 501-562-0337). Ask for Trevor. Look on bottom of page 4, series Land Rover engine section, Item # 218508, $43.95 USD. It’s where I got mine. P
