ticking noise on my 3.9 V8

I still have this same ticking noise on my 3.5 sd1 engine. It is on carbs so that rules out injectors on my engine anyway. I have been looking for this noise for ages now so am interested in the answer to this. I was begining to think it was my series gearbox that was wrong but i just don't know.

    EFI > SU's on automatic?

The x linkage in the pictures are just throttle links between the carbs. But see where the throttle return spring is on the valley thats where the kickdown spindle goes onto and it comes back to a bracket on the back of the cylinder head and this is where the adjuster is for the cable outer. I...

    EFI > SU's on automatic?

The kick down linkage bolts onto the back of the cylinder head and connects to the pivot on the valley where the throttle linkage comes from. The kickdown bracket is not in that picture that i can see.

ticking noise on my 3.9 V8

Is piston slap common on the rover V8? because i suspect mine could have it. Not sure if its a gearbox problem or not only happens when just on the throttle and no more.

    Su conversion to Efi?

Keep the SU's strip them dowm and send them to burlen fuel systems to be re bushed for the spindles, that will cost you £30 a carb buy rebuild kits of them for £100 them assemble yourself, dead easy to do they give you full instructions if your not sure, you will then have a good set of carbs...

    MOT Misery

Is there rust on the inside of the head light on the shiny reflector, think thats what they are talking about. The shock bushes are really easy to do but i would get new split pins for reassembly. The rear brakes will probably turn out to be the most difficult to do just take a look under the...

    Paranoid about Parabolics

Oiling plain leaf springs is the only way to get them to compress and drop when off roading. It's maybe not a good practice but it works for that. I did not find oiling was a problem for the handling on the road either, oiling also helps with rust between the leafs and stops it building up and...

    Paranoid about Parabolics

I have para's on my SWB and they are ok but certainly not worth the money. I like them because i am lazy and you don't need to oil them because of the gap in the leafs. The road holding is ok and off road are really good. But before i re chassised my motor i had springs off a series lightweight...
