I didn't think you could change the barrel. I thought you had to change the whole mechanism. Mind you, that's not really that difficult.
Disconnect the choke cable at the carb (or stop cable if it's diesel) then take off the steering column shroud. The lock is held on by two bolts. If they...

Hi PJ,
I'm in Somerset. How much are you looking for? I'm really only after the bits in front of the hoops, so your full set may be a bit much for me.

How have you got on with this? I have 61 S2 and I could take some pics if you still need them?

Thanks. I didn't know about them.
I've emailed them for a price but looking at their website it may be close to the Exmoor prices.
I think I may end up looking for 2nd hand.
Cheers,

Can anyone recommend where to get the front parts of a hood frame? I need everything forward of the front hoop - the sharks tooth rail, the bits over the doors and the bits behind the doors.
I've looked at Exmoor trim but it's coming to £££ and I'd like to save a bit of money. It's to go with...

That's the question - it depends on how much hassle it is!

Hi all,
As the title says, how easy (and expensive) would it be to take the auto box out of a V8 disco 1 and replace it with a manual one from say a 300tdi?
Is it possible? Would I need an adaptor plate? Are the mountings the same? What about the transfer box?
I know the pedal arrangement...

That's great info Discool. Thanks.
Looks like a new switch is needed.

Hi guys,
Stupid question I'm afraid. I'm trying to fix the lights on a disco. How does the dipswitch stalk work? Is it pull back and release for main beam and then repeat for dip?
If that's right, is it the switch that does it or is it in the electronics somewhere. Currently it just...

Thanks Paul. I've got most of the bits bar a few nuts and bolts.
Is the big bolt at the end of the ball joint link (the one that goes through the two rubber cones) the same on the front and the back? I think the number is NTC8202

Thanks guys
A bit of a gamble then.
My biggest problem now is that my new box section "crossmember" doesn't let my bumper fit.
I'm going to have to taper the ends.

Hi all,
I've just had to have the fuel tank etc out as I needed to repair the rear crossmember. (Replaced with box section).
Do I need to replace the anti roll bar for the MOT?
Cheers,

I had my Series 2 bulkhead repaired and galvanised by the Birmingham guys. I haven't fitted it yet but it looks well done. They had to do a LOT of work and refabricate a lot of complex parts. It isn't rivet-counter standard but I'm really very pleased with it. I need to get it painted and...
