Well fitted nudge bar to bumper no problem but wrap around sides flap around like a bats wings and knock against the front wing so concluded they do need to be fixed to the wing. Bit the bullet, drilled holes and fixed with rubber washers, now steady as a rock and looks great. Photo to follow...
