Blue smoke ... give me common spots

Hi there guys, As simple as it sounds - blue smoke coming out of exhaust (definitely burning oil). Noticeable enough that you can see a nice cloud on a still day. Increases when accelerating, more than would or could be considered normal. Only a few weeks with my td5 so just learnings it. Can...

    Electrical Help

Hi bud, yeah it starts, but I prefer to get to the root to be honest, and can either fix the original wire or fully replace it. Albeit ten years down the line I crack her open again and wonder why I've got a DIY second wire heading to the ignition barrel and original hanging loose and limp!

    Electrical Help

Hey bud - apologies - aha was just in the middle of removing a front wing at the same time! It's a defender 110 2001. Was working fine previously, and when bypassing still works fine. So can't find where the break in the live wire is or would be. Not sure if there's any common spots. Or...

    Electrical Help

Hi guys - a help question - My electrical 12V direct brown/white wire to the ignition barrel is not registering any voltage? My understanding is this should be a direct feed and always show voltage and it's unfused? I've bypassed direct to the battery and car starts and runs so it's...

    Snorkel replacement?

Hi all, A quick one - I'm planning on removing my snorkel. I think theres definitely been additional holes drille to fit it by someone in the past. Anyone seen or have any good recommendations for a larger side vent - tend to prefer flatter profiles that can be used to cover it? Cheers

    For a good laugh ...

You know those not-so-quick jobs, that turn out to be even longer than you expected because of some rusty bolt etc. or some cock-up. Well for anyone wanting a good laugh, and some consolation. Attempting to replace my passenger side footwell today. Started cutting it out - the higher metal is...

Welding & Rust - any willing participants (pictures)?

Having just taken my other car back from an MOT where it had a bit of welding done to the arches. I am gobsmacked at how shockingly poor the weld is by somebody no doubt paid far too much of my money. It looks he was an asthmatic who decided to drool on the seams rsther than actually weld. As a...

Security Door Hinges? - Cost an arm & a Leg

Hahaha - it took me atleast two read throughs to get where the sarcasm began and the real to dos ended but genuinely good advice and thank you. I think my only one is frankly I know I kind of want to ensure I can get the doors off if ever working on them one day for whatever reason. Don't ask...

Security Door Hinges? - Cost an arm & a Leg

Hi guys, A second post in succession to my quick first one! The project is well underway And a relatively quick question - We all feel more peace of mind with security hinges on our defenders. But jeez, the cost of Optimil/Exmoor are incredible. Are there any alternatives (potentially not...
