Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

So, new fangled battery tester used. Standard battery test shows the battery is definitely in good order. Rated 500 CCA and test gave well over 600 CCA. The tester also has a start test, and when I ran this the results came back as LOW, basically the little graph it gave showed it dropping down...

Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

Something interesting has happened though, I decided to clear the codes last night, and as if by magic it has been starting fine since. I suspect this is just coincidence though.

Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

This is all useful advice and information! Will report back.

Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

But I did borrow tester and it seemed fine.

Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

I did replace the battery 2 years ago but maybe it's had it already.

Freelander 2 wont start, short crank

Ok I've been reading as many posts as I can, but I'm still not sure what steps I should take next. If changing glow plugs was a quick job I probably would have just gone for that next but I want some extra confidence that it's worth it after watching videos. The thing is, when I read about...

Freelander 2 eating its intercooler turbo hose

Yeah there's a white plastic clip that was already there that I've been using but maybe it's just not doing it's job. I'll add in some cable ties too!

Freelander 2 eating its intercooler turbo hose

I'm about to change the lower intercooler hose, the long one. This will be the 2nd time I've replaced it since owning this car. Basically, over time one of the belt driven wheels that's right near the hose, slowly eats away at it, until I get a hole. When fitting the hose, there's a reasonable...

Freelander 2 creaking at the back

Probably a common fault that someone is going to tell me instantly what it is - but basically, if I'm doing a tight turn, and accelerating quickly from stationary, for example out of a T-junction, I'm getting creaking/grinding noises coming from the back of the car somewhere. I mentioned it to...

    Exploding Pipes

Ok, I'll set the alarm on 22 then I think. Thanks for all the help. Now to move onto all the other problems with it: Horrific overnight battery drain Pitted rear brake disc Squeak from somewhere at low speed Driver seat height adjustment doesn't stay elevated Rattle from rear, possibly loose...

    Exploding Pipes

Well so far so good. Stuck to the plan and no exploding pipes at the moment. What's the actual max boost I should be seeing? What should I treat as "too much"? It definitely goes up to 20 and a little over when I pull away fast. I've set an alarm on my obd device, that beeps if I hit 20 psi...

    Exploding Pipes

Right, based on all of this... I'm going to clean my... orifice.. with break cleaner, put the original middle section back on the pipes, go for a drive and watch the values and report back.

    Exploding Pipes

I was worried that now I'd replaced both end rubber sections with stronger silicon ones, that this is why the plastic one failed instead - point of least resistance.

    Exploding Pipes

Oh and yeah, the lower longer rubber pipe, but it was in the middle, about an inch long tear outwards.

    Exploding Pipes

Struggling to get past the amount of times you just said orifice! haha. Is that easy to get to? I'll have a google/youtube - on a different car I had to take off the whole manifold to get to the MAP sensor, I really hope that's not the deal on this one.
