Quick Update if anyone is interested.... When I retuned to the vehicle last weekend the first thing I tried was pressing the fuel cut-off switch under the bonnet and the car fired up straight away ! I have to say though that I didnt hear or feel anything when I pressed the cot-off switch...

It looks like I have (wrongly) assumed the pump was in the sender unit in the Tank. It is in the wheel arch and I will be tapping it with a hammer tomorrow in the hope that it fires up again. Cheers
