I understand what you both are saying but why only when hot?

Hi all.
My 200tdi Defender got a bit warm the weekend as the electric fan did not come on. It didnt go into the red and coasted back downhill to cool it. I have repaired the fan which now comes on at about normal on the temperature gauge and the engine runs fine. No smoke or untoward noises...

The thermostat was taking full load the way it was wired which makes me think the relay was to switch the fan off when wading
But thanks for the heads up.
-
Yes it was. Took relay out and now working fine. Assume relay was for wading switch which had been bypassed. Thanks for all your responses

Had power to it but the fan unit just clicks
-
Hi all. My kenlow fan has stopped working. When I adjust the remote thermostat it passes power to the fan but the fan just makes a single click. Any ideas. Is it repairable. Is it bin bound.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Buy one as standard as possible. Half the fun is modding it yourself. That way you can carry out mods you need not what somebody else feels is right.

Try leaving the hand brake off next time you park. If this cures it, it's the shoes lifting due to incorrect adjustment
-
Check your hand brake for free travel. Could be sticking on or lifting brake shoes
