I had this problem last year just before my my MOT, I had to unscrew the main unit and then have a new one fitted as a clip had broken which was causing it to jam.

I have the same problem, my Freelander is losing coolant, I am topping up about once a week and have a horrible smell. Someone did mention to me to check the coolant bottle to check it hasn't perished under the label on the top of the bottle as this could cause loss of water. I have checked it...

I have found out today from a Land Rover dealer that I have a valve gone and I am looking at a bill of approx. £1000, the car is only worth £2,600. I am gutted, I wish I had never bought it in the first place!

I have a 51 plate 1.8 petrol Freelander which when idle only runs on 3 cylinders, when you excelerate the car it then goes to 4. I have changed the whole injector unit with all the injectors but this has made no difference. It has been mentioned that that head gasket could be on it way...
