I'm new to all this Landy stuff so I might be wrong, but I thought that the fuel gauge (temp gauge as well) were fed with an 8V supply from a regulator behind the instruments. Try measuring the voltage to your existing gauge if its 8V your mates gauge might work. Worth a try anyway.

A quick search on flea bay revealed this Land Rover V8 and 200 TDi Sump Plug and Washer on eBay (end time 29-Sep-10 15:02:35 BST)

Had my landy for just over a week now, and it drinks more than Oliver Reed, well it would it's a V8 :D Looking forward to spending many an hour on here.
