Pressurise enough and it will blow coolant out the overflow which goes to the side and then underneath and then drips down the wing.

Whole f_ckin' day wasted today on those two bolts and no further forward. That and trying to bleed the high pressure pipes with 2 dodgy batteries that **** themselves as soon as you try to crank. Utterly wasted ****ing day. Those bolts have one...

I had this issue, it was solved quite quickly with a blowtorch and hacking away at the housing around the nut until I could just about fit a wrench on it to keep it still

Well pan and valve body off again, something disintegrated

Grrrrrr posted the thread P38A Seized nuts! in Range Rover.
Gentlemen (& ladies), We're looking at an automatic diesel P38A. Two of them actually. I'm trying to get the rad off my scrapper and onto what I am hoping might become a runner. The radiator on the scrapper looks original. It is held at the...

A split ring is always going to cause trouble sooner or later.

Yes, an incorrect signal rather than absence of signal might mess it up.

ok I stand corrected. I do wonder how it would behave if the disco sensors did provide pulses, especially if the front & rerar rate per revolution were different ? I guess the ABS/TCS would treat it as spinning or slipping wheels - a bit...

Check the connector underneath the valve block. The connector body may appear tight, but the socket contacts open up slightly over time due to heat & cold cycles in the engine bay. Intermittent connections will cause "valve stuck" faults when...

Essentially it’s getting the preload on the lifters correct. If it’s wrong it impact compression & engine won’t be at its best.

On my P38A I cut the cooler pipes and used compression fittings and a new bit of oil hose. Others used a flaring tool on the stub of pipe remaining. Sump can probably be plugged with Quiksteel. You'd be amazed what it seals!

Bit odd. No issues with my car or my scrapper but Slooby's was messing with my head yesterday. I wish I could pun down what is different about it. Cannot be the FIP itself as I swapped them over. I'll see if it runs after I have finished...

    Worth talking to @Bemble ?

Well that went well..... everything checked and torqued to the manual, .... its absolutely horrific now, loads of failed 3rd to 4th changes, slam into 6th, sometimes wont come out of 6th. I don't actually even want to drive it more then the...

I understood the ecu used a truncated mean across all 4 wheels, which is why the speedo is still correct when a sensor fails

Started reassembling Slooby's former Rangie. Just cannot get the FIP adjustment right. Swapped for the FIP on my scrapper thinking maybe the Woodroffe key was worn but same sh1t. Get it bang on, rotate 360 and the b*st*rd has moved. I think maybe...

Weirdly I have never changed mine. Makes me think the quality of the originals is massively better than anything available now.

Found this on my hard-drive. No idea where I got it but might be useful to someone else: viscous fan testing procedure.

Range rover and its valve body donor are ready to go to workshop tomorrow to take up 2 ramps, new zf fluids here, new pan, new tubes and bridge seal and mechatronic seals, reset all the adaptions and hope its fine again, I really miss driving the...

Unfortunately the only way I managed to get a response was to threaten legal action via the bank. I didn't like doing it but he was taking the ****. Never been back.

Condenser replaced, took it to the garage for them to nitrogen test - left for 3 hours and didn’t drop a single PSI. Regassed and I’ve got lovely cold air again. Finally*. *until the next thing breaks

Cheapest fix and first job with brakes is to follow the bleed procedure as per RAVE. Don't rush it and pump plenty of fresh fluid through. How many presses of the brake pedal before the ABS pump kicks in? If the accumulator membrane is shot it...

You could put Megasquirt or similar on it and then map whatever you want but it is an awful lot of messing about for a brick of a car. As you said, there are a few off the shelf cams available that would do the job.

Turners. Don't think they're as well thought of as they used to be. V8 Developments might be worth a look. Changing the cam is the first job. Easy enough to do if you follow RAVE. After that you can get someone to play with the ECU but think...

So, just to close this thread with a defenitive update: She will get new 4-2 exhaust manifolds (the old ones are gone), a Weber / Edelbrock carb, full heat shielding and sound deadening, all of that this year. Maybe even a roof top tent...

So, today, I looked at her. Following that, I send my technical inspector a message for a test appointment. Then I irdered some starter spray, those SUs are great, but way too lean for the new camshaft. The resulting cold start problems require...

Other thread. A bit of PTFE tape seems to have sorted the drain plug. Aircon drains were dripping but dripped a lot more after I jammed a screwdriver in there. Oddly the driver's side was worse than the passenger side. I can confirm the exhaust...
