Ok peeps so I followed the thread on how to change the oil cooler and i dont know if I'm happy or sad.. when i took off the oil pipes a cappuccino milky fluid which is the gear box oil came out.. meaning my head gasket is fine but now I have a contaminated gear box.. my gut tells me its fecked...

Well I'm good with my hands just never done it before.. and in fairness with all the money I've been pouring into the car I cant afford a specialist to do the job... either way if my gearbox has water in it I'm parking her up unfortunately

Thanks for the reply saint.. I'm praying it's the cooler. Bought one today and gonna fit it and flush the system all afternoon.. otherwise in your opinion could a moderate DIYer do the gasket job? Specialist tools? Etc

Jeez dont say that.. I was kinda put off the idea with all the diggers pointing at the oil cooler.. I'm really trying not to think of head gasket.. I'm sickened to think a whole engine or tranny could go caput over a stupid oil cooler set up.. aargh

It's like a light brown coffee colour.. didnt smell it to be honest as I have sh$% sense of smell.. the coolant is green... green + red tranny oil = brown?? I'm guessing

She never got a chance to as I watched it fail in front of my eyes and saw the first drops of oil enter the coolant resevoir... anyway cheers bud

Yep.. the BMW engine.. I think I read his write up on how to change it but no mention of a failed cooler and if this could lead to coolant in tranny.. I'd really love to know but either way I'll be checking tomoz.. but if it is somehow impossible to happen which I am hoping then I'd love to hear...
