Quick update . Changed expansion tank and cap still doing the same . Had the thermostat changed and all is well 2 hr drive stuck in traffic etc and no problems . Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thanks for all the advice

I have bleed it through the bleed valve that goes into the bulkhead following Haynes manual. Is there a second air bleed screw then ?

I have fitted a new cap today and noticed under the warning sticker thing on top of the expansion tank small cracks so that be next thing to change as when engine was running the coolant that the top hose brings back into the tank was coming out through these cracks

The top hose felt easier to squeeze but I'm thinking that's because it was red hot and softened the hose. The cap can be pushed nearly all the way on without twisting it on then it tightens so far and it will click and slacken off . The cap on mine is a orange one. The heater blows out hot (...
