it could be you alterynator that is buggered or your clocks or your wiring but the first place to look is the connection on the back of the alternator

check the wiring on the back of the alternator ;) the speedo is cable but the rev counter is electronic off of the W terminal normally

i do all my work on the floor and its a piece of cake if you have decent tools and jacks etc.....one of the best tools i have bought is the snap-on 1/2"drive cordless impact gun, blows all of the makita/metabo etc ones out of the water! battery lasts ages it'll undo normally tough bolts and...

i know someone who made one an what i think was a hilux or landcruiser chassis just for a laugh if i remember right it went quite well
