Talk to me about air compressors...

Cool, thanks for all the advice. My VAT free voucher has expired but I'm sure they'll send another one out shortly :D An idea of costs on blasting the bulkhead would be helpful thanks border - no rush though, the Landy's been in bits for almost 4 years now!

Talk to me about air compressors...

Thanks, that's a bit of a step up in price and out of my budget - but I note the 150L tank. I also found another forum that said for air tools, running off the motor is fine but for spraying I should run off the tank as the air is cooler and less likely to pick up oil/moisture. i.e. buy a...

Talk to me about air compressors...

Hmm, weird - it looks like 1/2 this thread has been deleted... Anyway, quick catchup, I'm looking for a compressor for spraying, possibly the odd air tool but mainly spraying. I'm no longer worrying about blasting... I've been persuaded that I need a 3hp motor but I'm not sure whether I need a...

Talk to me about air compressors...

Thanks boguing, yeah after looking into it I don't think the blasting idea is going to work out... I'm living in Durham now - I was near Dorking (Earlswood) but hadn't updated my profile! Nice part of the world down there - plenty of green lanes too!

Talk to me about air compressors...

Hi All, Apologies if this in the wrong place, it's not specific to Landy's but it will be used to rebuild one! After much debate, and mucking around with a wire wheel followed by a paint brush, I have decided to splash out on an air compressor, sand blaster and spray gun - but I have no idea...

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

Dunno, would the drivers knee keep hitting the switches though? It's been a while since my dash was where it should be...

Series 3 clean/not bodged fitting of a stereo into dash

If I ever get as far as the dash with my rebuild :p I was thinking of sticking a CB radio in there - or a bank of switches for work lights etc. Probably a CB.

Nope, but interested in any that have :) I think the main problem is finding a modern unit that doesn't look out of place in a series Landy...

    1973 88" rebuild - my turn!

Thanks, the Landy is being kept at a top secret location :P not my house unfortunately... Thanks - I'm looking forward to driving it now, can't wait!

    1973 88" rebuild - my turn!

That's the plan :) The bulkhead has seen better days though so may postpone things... pics coming soon!

    1973 88" rebuild - my turn!

Right then, it's been a while but we're back on track with this :) Just a quick recap: Both axles have been stripped, rebuilt and painted with black Hammerite - with a splash of red here and there, because why not :) The chassis has been stripped, welded and the front dumb irons levelled out...

    S2 front end on an S3 ?

I would assume not as the later 2a has lights in the wing due to the change in law... Shame as lights in the grill looks best IMO :-)

    Refurbish or Replace Leaf Springs

I agree but would have a go at refurbing anyway - what have you got to lose! :-)

what is the point of the panel light switch

    Don't get too excited - take a torch :-P

what is the point of the panel light switch

Yes I agree, this is how mine was rewired by a PO and how I will wire it again after the rebuild - it also frees up a dashboard switch for something else. There must be a reason why it was wired up like this originally though...?
