Well its at Top Gear in Leicester who are apparently gearbox specialists, hes just rung to say he is now looking at the clutch plate as that may be cracked. Thanks for your help it is definately helping by sounding like i know what im talking about becuase im scared they will rip me off someone...

Ok did cable, took for a dianostic test which showed solenoids need changing, they did that and are now saying it hasnt worked!!! what next

ive just been on another link and a common fault for the 2001 year is the selector cable needs resetting, im hoping they didnt do that when fitting the ne gear box and its that simple.Will try that then the oil change. Thanks for all the help

Thanks, i had a mechanic check it over so didnt get a warranty. i will ask the mechanic to check the fluids/oil etc tommorrow then and hope the gearbox is new.What oil changes do you mean? engine oil

Is the gearbox knackered, how can i check the auot transmission fluid. Why did the HDC amber light flash and the gears disappeared. i turned it off and re started and crawled home after it happened three times. ive just bought this and am but a woman help im scared ill get stuck somewhere
