Finally managed to get the power washer under it today... still so much missed! Any tips that dont involve me under it with a pressure washer, or is it on my back with a brush? Also saw this today with regards to undersea - looks very cool...

Really good point! So after a good clean up, start the engine up stationary for 15/20 mins and see whats happening/any leaks?

Thats great feedback - thank you. Are they all fairly simple(ish) jobs? Or are any more of a pig than another? Also the year of the 90 is 1999 if that helps?

Thinking on I've bought a new seal for the crankshank pulley, and clean it all down this weekend along with the other 'oily' bits, which fingers crossed will help see things more clearly! But if anyone has thoughts on the oil leak around the...

Thats great advice - thank you. I'll give that a try this weekend, though I may giv you a shout if struggling on here if thats ok?

Hi All, So when checking under the bonnet today for oil - when i closed it and gave the final push down for it to fully close, it took more than a few attempts for to go down. Any suggestions what I can do, so I'm not spending 15 minutes trying...

Hi All, Noticed two drops of oil on the drive today. So had a look under the engine and one is coming from the sump - so need a new plug there (suggestions/links welcome). The second leak, is a little more! I've taken pictures from underneath...

    Ideally yes.

Thanks for the above - so when you protect the underneath of the 90, do you cover it everywhere? Obviously not the engine/wheels - but the axles, bottom of the cabin, footwells etc?

Hi Anaconda, It's when he's took the top of the TD5 - Wiring harness into the injectors - Change rubber gasket I've also heard that if you have the top off to also change plastic dowels to metal ones - would this be correct? Also is there a...

Why do I have the feeling that buying this Landy I may never take the family away on holiday again! :) Also what do you think of this advice?

Would these be any good for the doors and boot? https://thomasperformance.co.uk/security/defender-90-bombproof-2-door-hinge-anti-theft-guard?srsltid=AfmBOorpGu1sMaBLP9kJKarWXMUXy_KN0uB3gat9bHSgopFNfepgX2RtA4M

And you can do that in/on the engine?
  • F
Thank for the recommendation - never heard of Gunk! Am I right in thinking some people use brake fluid to clean the engine? Also peole paint the underneath as well - recommended or just stick with an undersea? Which ones would you advise?
  • F
I never know you wave at other Landy owners - bit like the old mini community! Is there a certain brand of security bolts for doors and other bits you/people would recommend?
  • F
What would you recommend? I was thinking of putting security bolts on all 3 doors, and maybe a steering wheel you can take off. Any recommendations for them or any other security that can be done pretty instantly?
  • F
Thank you for the above guys - also with the engine to clean it from all the muck, what would you recommend using?

Hi there, Looks like I'll be taking the plunge and picking up my first 90 on Tuesday! What would be on you top 10 to-do-list as quick wins/no brainer things to do as a matter of course/best practice. I've attached a pic of the vehicle...

Thanks for the Phil - really insightful. Just wish I could take the top off like those guys! Thinking on - what type of wire wheel would you use? Thanks again for coming back.
  • F
Thanks for the quick feedback! So would you power wash it first to get the muck off, then after its dried go at it with a wire wheel? I've seen that some people prime and paint, is that classed as undersealing it or is there a specific way to...

Hi there, New to the Landy world and looking at my first purchase. Had a look at a Defender 90 1999 TD5 and I just wanted people opinion who are more in the know if this is just surface rust and needs a good clean? Appreciate your comments...
