OK, I read that there are two brown wires because some marques use the thinner one to feed power directly elsewhere, like a fuse box for example. Haven’t seen that.

Connections seem fairly standard, certainly no changes made since alternator has been charging OK. Connections to alternator were in block originally with three connections. Two of the wires push onto thicker blade connections. The third goes to a smaller blade closest to engine block. I think...

OK. So the earth strap from the battery bolts to the housing for the radiator. Maybe the engine earth should go there instead of direct to the battery? Looking at my ‘71 Spitfire the only connection from the negative post of the battery is to the body.

Is that a loom that can be bought? Replace all the way to the dash light or just the heavier stuff?
