guess i'll find summat might even go down the route of another 2.5N/A if one crops up! or if I feel really adventurous might have a poke around at the one that's in it would like a bit more oomph but just have to see whats around when I have the funds for it haha, still a few rusty complete...

when my engine went kaput (about 5 months ago) I looked on ebay at 200tdi's and they could be had for about £450 just had a look now £1000-1500!!!! eh!?

sigh, pretty terminal anyways :( I had been hoping to upgrade the engine but now I will have to! bugger, it's going to be in sick bay for some time!

years is probably as accurate as it gets being ex army, 29,000 according to the clock! :D

it's the original engine as far as I know '87 had noticed it a bit smokey the last time I drove it but today went to collect a bike and made it about a mile it started getting really noisy and I had to turn round crawled back in 2nd belching smoke

a mix of very black and grey, a head gasket wouldn't produce the noises this was making :(

lots of smoke from exhaust then lots of clattering/knocking, loss of power, also lots of smoke coming from oil filler, oil light started flickering (yes I checked oil before starting it was ok) :(

apart from a wee diesel leak and needing a new battery seems to be, although I did have a bit of an oops this evening when I reversed into a gatepost which actually punched the fog light clean through the body! I must fit a reverse light! :rolleyes:
