Sounds like the same problem i had with my old 300tdi..
it turned out to be the rear diff......

Bit of an update...
Took it to a Land Rover garage this morning.....it had the track rod???? changed......something about being a lot of play in them....
Anyway its sort of cured it, shes not so skitish on the front end but shes still knocking when i turn the steering from side to side over...

Only when moving.......its now a really loud...bang,bang,bang....
and the front end is very scitish{spelling}

Knocking on the steering.
I went round a corner this evening and felt and heard a knock,
.sounds silly but I felt it in the pedals and the steering wheel
.
I started turning the steering wheel quickly{F1 warm your tyres up...

Just wondering if anyone could help be out with a small problem I have with my 300 tdi discovery?
On my way to pick my daughter up I noticed the heater was blowing cold air with the temp gauge at normal running temp.
When I got home I decided to bleed the system.
I took the top off...

just got her back, recon diff and new gearbox oil.....shes driving spot on

Thanks for all the advice...
I took her into a LandRover garage{independent} near Barsnley this morning....
Its the rear diff and maybe a problem with a UJ on the rear prop, shes going in wednesday.
Been quoted around £300 for the diff and fitting, does that sound about right?
again...

you`ll have to excuse me i`m really thick when anything Mechanical is involved….
I changed the front prop myself, fitter was busy and told me “8 nuts you’ll do it in no time”…..I didn’t line any thing up I just put it on….the disco reacts in the same...

Just had the tyres balanced and 1 replaced......
its not solved it.....

I was thinking about the wheels, but would`nt i get the vibaration at lower speeds also?
to add;it feels like the wheels a square and the main vibaration is coming from under the driver seat........take my foot of the accelatator and it runs smooth at the same speed.
