You need the three short leads with the bullet connectors as this means the device has the steering wheel adapter built-in. The ones with a minijack socket require an adapter box.

The steering wheel controls on the FL 1 use a resister ladder for the audio buttons. This means all the buttons use the same two wires and each button has a different resistance. Most aftermarket radios don't accept this raw signal, the main exceptions (that I know of) are a few Blaupunkt and...

Sorry I thought you have the Becker sat nav, not the Visteon cd player. I don't have any experience with that unit and it does seem to use a strange connector.
One solution would be to cut off the existing connector and solder on an standard ISO connector. There is a PDF version of the...

The Becker unit has three plugs (five if you count the aerial & gps). You can download the manual here for the pin outs:

By "6disc plug", I assume you are referring to the C3 plugs? The C3 plug...

I upgraded the HK audio in my Freelander - check my other posts for a few tips.
Even with the standard Becker sat nav head unit, the audio volume shouldn't be quiet. I suspect you might have a problem with the HK amplifier, located under the passenger seat.
I am still using the HK amp with a new...

The sockets are inside the dash / console. There is plenty of space behind the console and the modules are very compact.
The dashcam mounts flush against the windscreen with a sticky tape pad and the lens can be adjusted up or down to suit the slope of the windscreen. There is enough clearance...

I’m powering my dashcam off the cigar lighter supply which is switched. To avoid cutting the harness, I made a lead that plugs between the cigar lighter and its plug on the harness. I’m using two 12v-USB modules (for dashcam and phone) and then regular usb cables to the devices. It’s not a long...

I refinished the seats in my HSE using Furniture Clinic products. The seats look like new and I’m very happy with the results.
From memory, this is the process:
1. Sand down any loose or flaking parts
2. Use solvent stripper to take the finish off
3. Fill any holes using filler, secure loose or...

Freelanders can have two types of auxiliary heaters: the FBH which burns diesel and the PTC which is electric. According to my owners handbook, the supplementary fuse box is for either for the heated windscreen or the ptc heater. My guess is that both options can't be fitted simultaneously.
You...

It's very easy with the facelift version. You just need to loosen the cubby box and take the stereo surround cover off. Then is is just a few screws to remove the single-din part with the tray and the hole becomes double din size.
You will need an double din adapter bracket like the one on this...

The modification is changing the dash over to the facelift version. I saw a thread somewhere about someone doing this complete with photos but I can't find it now.
I wonder if the old dash could be modified to fit a double din? The two styles are quite similar...

It will fit in a facelift model (2004+), but not before without a lot of work and modifications.

I had a similar problem filling my Freelander with the pump switching off quickly. The solution was to move the nozzle up to make space for air – see this illustration in the owner’s manual.
Never had this problem with my Defender or any other vehicle.

I’m not sure but I think it is for hill descent control (HDC). HDC only operates when the brake and throttle pedals are not pressed. It might also be used for cruise control, if fitted.
