I wouldn't make things difficult for yourself tbh. You are simply repairing a vehicle with a replacement part, same as if it was a door, an engine, a dashboard.

I've had a disco that had similar. I was using a Chinese Delphi clone but it said front and it ended up a broken wire to a rear. Cant remember the side. I just put it down to Chinese cloning gone wrong :) The lights were out and it sold...
